For the past five months, I have been working on a comic book, detailing the origins of one of the many black super heroes that I created last year. All the pictures in the slides not only show the finished product, but also show case my design process, from the planing, to the sketching and finally, the coloring and outlining. While the journey was long and difficult, it did bring about many different, and crucial learning experiences, such as; Learning how to plan and write a story and characters, properly sketching characters to emote in a believable fashion, and finally, learning how to work with an unfamiliar art medium, being acrylic paint, in order to help create atmosphere for the story. Despite all the projects challenges, as well as some personal interruptions, the project was still a fun one. Completing every step in the process always got me excited as I knew that I was getting closer to my vision. While I was unable to follow the original story, as I had to shorten the it due to time, I still accomplished a feet that pre-V.A.M 30 me would have thought impossible. It was through this project that I was able to not only grow as an artist, but also effectively exercise the skills I was taught in the V.A.M academy. While it saddens me to have to say goodbye to the academy that taught me so much about art and myself, I know that all good things must come to an end. As such, I leave saying, "Thank you, and goodbye V.A.M academy."
